Randazzo and Tribaudini kick off 2025 with another win
The 2025 European Lamborghini Super Trofeo season got underway at Paul Ricard this weekend and it was another victorious event for the 2024 Am Champions Piero Randazzo and Stephane Tribaudini.
VSR ran two Huracans, the number 6 Pro entry for Paul Levet and series newcomer Adam Putera and the number 66 Am entry for Randazzo and Tribaudini. The weekend started well with Levet heading the field in the opening Free Practice session and Tribaudini setting the fastest time in the Am class.
Saturday morning qualifying saw Tribaudini take pole position in the Am class, qualifying fourth overall, with Levet a row behind him in sixth. Disaster struck early on for the 66 when Tribaudini was pushed off at the start, damage to the rear of the car forcing him to stop and retire. Levet slipped back to eighth in the first corner melee but recovered quickly and ran in seventh throughout his stint. The pit window opened on lap eight and four tours later Levet stopped to hand over the 6 car to Putera. Levet’s final laps had pushed the car up to fourth place which Putera held util just after a safety car period. After a two lap sprint to the flag he took the finish in fifth place but track limit penalties pushed him down to sixth in the Pro class.
For race two Putera and Randazzo lined up on rows six and twelve respectively. Rain just as the cars were heading to the grid forced everyone to switch to wets for the start. By the end of the first racing lap Putera was up to ninth and Randazzo ran fifth in Am. On lap four Putera’s race ended when he clipped the wall at turn ten causing a Full Course Yellow which lasted until just before the pit window opened. Randazzo was battling with Giannoni for fourth in class when he stopped to hand over the 66 Lambo to Tribaudini. Some rapid out laps from the Frenchman promoted him to third in class, just behind Abkhazava. With ten minutes left to run both Tribaudini and Abkhazava began reeling in class leader Lewandowski. The three drivers ran nose to tail for several laps before Tribaudini passed them both with five minutes still on the clock. He kept ahead to take the class win and finish ninth overall.
