DOUBLE PODIUM WEEKEND FOR LEVET AND PUTERA AS RANDAZZO AND TRIBAUDINI WIN AGAIN IN AM
European Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship, Spa-Francorchamps - Belgium

Double Spa podium for Levet and Putera
Randazzo and Tribaudini win again in Am

Thirty-three Lamborghini Super Trofeo cars took on the challenge of a double-header event in support of the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa this weekend. Driver line-ups were unchanged for the two VSR Lamborghinis with Monza winners Paul Levet and Adam Putera sharing the number 6 Pro Huracan and 2024 Am Champions Piero Randazzo and Stephane Tribaudini in the 66 car. Both of Thursday’s Free Practice sessions were affected by the changeable weather Spa is famous for and it was wet for Saturday’s qualifying session. Out in Q1 in super tricky conditions were Levet and Randazzo. Levet put the Pro car on row two and Randazzo was third fastest in Am.

It was fully dry for the start of race one on Friday evening and after a crash at La Source on the opening lap the race was immediately put under Safety Car. In the melee Levet held on to fourth overall but Randazzo slipped down to fifth in Am. Racing restarted just a few minutes before the pit window opened. Randazzo pitted immediately for Tribaudini but Levet stayed out, stopping to handover to Putera right at the end of the window. Some fast laps from Tribaudini during the pit window allowed him to jump into the Am class lead, a handful of seconds ahead of Lewandowski. Putera ran third overall and was dicing with Knopp for second with ten minutes left to go. On lap fourteen he made the pass cleanly and began to pull away, taking a fine second place for the number 6 VSR Lambo. Behind him Tribaudini was dicing with the Pro cars and at the flag took not only the Am class win but also eighth overall.

For race two Putera qualified on the fourth row and Tribaudini was once more the pace-setter in Am taking the class pole and starting just behind the sister VSR car. At the start Putera ran wide and fell back to mid-field but by lap four was once again in the top ten. Tribaudini shot through the field to run seventh overall before a Full Course Yellow, followed by a Safety Car, closed up the pack. The race went green again two minutes before the pit window opened. Putera stopped at the start of the window and Levet took over the Pro car. Tribaudini stayed on track longer in the 66 and when Randazzo took over and rejoined the Am car was still just inside the top ten. Another Safety Car period quickly followed and before racing resumed Randazzo was forced to pull over and retire the Am car with gearbox issues. Out front Levet had made the most of the restart and was up to fourth. On the penultimate lap he made the pass for third and took the second podium of the weekend for himself and Putera. The Am pairing of Randazzo and Tribaudini were classified fifth after the disqualification of the class leader in post-race scrutineering and head into the summer break leading the Championship.
