VSR takes first podium for Lamborghini Temerario
VSR made its racing debut with Lamborghini’s new Temerario GT3 this weekend in the opening round of the GT World Challenge Sprint at Brands Hatch. Despite limited mileage in the new car and having never seen the challenging British circuit before Mattia Michelotto and Loris Spinelli finished third in the Gold Cup class on Sunday afternoon.
Michelotto qualified on the sixteenth row for race one and after making a good start was spun to the back of the field after contact from the 96 car. A red flag for a brutal accident for the number 10 Porsche allowed him to close back up to the field at the restart. Michelotto pitted on lap sixteen for Spinelli who closed out the race running fifth in the Gold Cup class.
A penalty for a red flag infringement in qualifying saw Spinelli start from the back for Sunday afternoon’s race but the Italian was quick to gain places and was running sixth in the Gold Cup before the pit window opened. Strong laps from both Spinelli and Michelotto during the window saw the 163 Lambo move up to fifth in class. Late race penalties for Rappange and Rougier allowed Michelotto to take the chequered flag third in the Gold Cup class, scoring the first podium for the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3.
