Martin Kodric confirmed for Blancpain GT Series Asia
6th February 2017
Lamborghini Squadra Corse Junior driver Martin Kodric will join VSR for their Blancpain GT Series Asia campaign in the team's Lamborghini Huracan GT3. The Young Croatian driver made his racing debut in single-seaters before moving to Lamborghini Super Trofeo in 2016 where he quickly impressed with his pace and race craft.
Martin Kodric: I'm delighted to be staying in the Lamborghini family and to be driving with such a strong team. VSR has an amazing pedigree so I'm really looking forward to developing further under their expert guidance. I had a great season last year but I'm ready to step up to GT3 and believe I can compete for silverware once again.
Vincenzo Sospiri (VSR): Blancpain GT Series Asia is a new programme for VSR this season. I’m very happy to be joining one of the SRO’s championships and delighted to be able to confirm our first driver. Martin is a very young driver and this year will be his first season in GT3. He tested with me in the summer and my whole team was impressed with his speed as well as his intelligent and positive approach to working with us. I’m confident that we will grow together and be up at the front this year.
Giorgio Sanna (Lamborghini Squadra Corse): Lamborghini Squadra Corse is very happy with our partnership with VSR, a team who for several years has contributed to our Junior programmes, assisting drivers to move from Formula to Super Trofeo and finally to GT3. The involvement of Martin, a Lamborghini Squadra Corse Junior driver, is another example of the work that we do together.
Martin's co-driver will be announced shortly.
The first round of the Championship will be at Sepang, Malaysia on 7th - 9th April.
